We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Casework Engagement Officer. This position is located in St. John's and is a part-time position with 20 hours per week at 4 hours per day Monday to Friday.
As a Casework Engagement Officer you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to constituents who seek help with various government programs and services.
Your role will involve handling queries, advocating on behalf of individuals in need, and managing case files through databases.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to daily queries from members of the public via phone, email, or in-person, taking appropriate initial actions to resolve, document, or escalate concerns and inquiries.
- Provide advocacy work for constituents seeking support from government programs on a case-by-case basis, diligently tracking case files.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant guidelines and legislation pertaining to casework matters.
Assist with office administration tasks, including file and database management.
- Support scheduling and outreach activities when required.
- Be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to meet the demands of the role.
- Undertake other duties as required, contributing to day-to-day operations and special projects.

- Self-sufficiency in managing a case load, showcasing the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Proven capability to work within a team, collaborating with colleagues and efficiently managing various projects concurrently.
- Outstanding verbal and writing skills, capable of delivering clear and concise communication.
- Highly organized with excellent administrative abilities, skillful at multitasking and consistently meeting deadlines even with minimal supervision.
- Strong critical thinking aptitude, exceptional attention to detail, and proficient problem-solving capabilities.
- Previous experience in support duties at a senior level, demonstrating sound political judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions.
- Prior experience working directly with the public is essential.
- Familiarity with programs operated by the federal government and a fundamental understanding of Canada's Parliamentary system.
- Proven experience in event organization, list maintenance, and database management.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and overall computer literacy.
- Knowledgeable about various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Previous Constituency Office experience is considered an asset.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is also an asset.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required. French is considered an asset.
